Mrs. Khumi Burton JP DL. Chairman of Manchester Organisations Alliance (MOOA) took the initiative of organising a luncheon in September 2009 to support Combat Stress for the care and treatment of those servicemen and women having gone through the difficult time in the battlefields. It has been reported that over £15K has been raised via this particular function. Seen in the picture above is the organiser, MOOA, Combat Stress and Ex-Hong Kong Servicemen Association representatives.

East Meets West at The National Arboretum on Thursday 10th September 2009

A nostalgic trip to the National Arboretum at Litchfield to mark the 70th anniversary of the start of the Second World War brought memories flooding back for the members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) in Wilmslow and the Chinese elderly group from Manchester. The average age of the group is over 75 and they all have their individual experience during the War II. The monument seen in the above picture to commemorate the role of women in the war was unveiled last year after members of the WRAC across the country commissioned the statue.

This meaningful activity was designed and organised by Khumi Burton JP DL, Chairman of Manchester Oriental Organisations Alliance (MOOA), as part of our objective in community integration and convergence. With a little help from the instant interpreters the short stories and interactions had been absolutely brilliant.
