The children were having fun picking the "Lai See" off the Money Tree, an excellent tradition indeed. The whole event was filled with Vietnamese pop and folk songs and most of them were love songs in Spring. The celebration was held on Saturday 13th February 2010 at Abrham Moss Community Centre in Cheetham Hill.

Chinese New Year Celebration in Ashbury Meadow Primary School, Beswick, East Manchester on Thursday 11th February 2010.

It was a gathering for the teachers and staff of Ashbury Meadow with the parents, Children and the local community. They learned more about the Chinese New Year through our "story telling" and various traditional performances.

Chinese New Celebration in Manchester Art Gallery on Sunday 14th February 2010

The Opening Ceremony with the brilliant Lion Dance performed by the Vietnamese Community Association youth group. The party hosting the ceremony included Chairman of Manchester Magistrates' Bench Sharman Birtles JP DL, Deputy Chairmen Neil Farnell JP and Yvonne Davies JP.

The event was organised in partnership between Manchester Oriental Organisations Alliance and Manchester Art Gallery and there were over three thousand visitors recorded by the Gallery throughout the day.

The activities were specially tailored for families with children providing excellent hands-on and interaction opportunities.

Traditional performances were introduced with their history and integration into today's modern world.
