Once the team's participation is confirmed and one of the above charities is nominated, the team Captain's contact details will be forwarded to the Fund Raising Manager and it will then be directly between the team and the charities. MOOA will not have any involvement of the fund raised.
Other than our Event Charities, teams can raise fund for any other charities
of their own choice but they will have to liaise with the charities themselves and MOOA will only record the total fund raised at the end of the event for statistical purposes.
Timing and Race Structure
2. The event will run between 0930-1730 hours usually on a Sunday either at the end of July or beginning of August. It can take a maximum of thirty six (36) teams. Each team will have a guaranteed minimum of 3 races throughout the day in the 3-boat race preliminary rounds. The top twelve teams with the fastest average time in the 3 races will enter the 6-boat race semi finals. The first two in each semi-final and the two fastest losers will proceed to the Grand Final.
The teams and Registration
3. The boat will accommodate a maximum of 16 rowers and 1 drummer in each race. Teams cam register more than seventeen crew members so that a reserve/standby crew is built. There is no minimum crew requirement. Every individual registered must be over the age of 14 and signed a Risk Acknowledgement Form before the commencement of the event.
4. The Register will be open to all teams usually at the end of the previous year. The team's participation is confirmed only when the Entry Fee is received in full and an official receipt is issued by M.O.O.A. Contact details of a Team Captain will have to be provided when registered.

Dear All,
The 2011 Manchester Community Charity Dragon Boat Race was officially launched on Tuesday 16th this month in Jade Garden Restaurant in Ashton. Our Chairman Mr. Edmond Leung announced that the event is to be held on Sunday 31st July 2011 at Salford Water Sports Centre.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor of Salford Councillor George William Wilson, Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Mark Hackett, Mayor of Tameside Councillor Jean Brazil, Consul General of People's Republic of China in Manchester Mr. Ni
The Event Charities:
Anthony Nolan Trust
UK Cancer Research
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
Victim Support
British Red Cross
did have a brief presentation to explain to all the guests the work and services they have been providing for the community and their pledge for public support.
The Register is now open and we already have GMP X 3, M235 Casino and Wing Yip
registered. 36 teams is still our maximum and confirmation of participation is on first come first served basis.
Please visit our website www.mooa.org.uk for more details.
We all agreed that for the next few years it will be extremely difficult for voluntary organisations
to host charity events like what MOOA has been doing. We are desperate for your full support to help the charities in supporting those in need.
We look forward to meeting your teams again in July 2011.
Yours sincerely,

Dear All,
As there are a few teams from the casinos in Manchester participating in the 2011 event, our Chairman Edmond Leung has kindly donated a new trophy "Manchester Casinos Charity Cup" to make the race much more interesting and competitive.
This is in addition to the overall trophy and will be decided on the fastest average time in the 3 preliminary rounds.
The rules of permanent ownership of the cup will apply exactly the same as the "Manchester Community Charity Trophy".
The winner of two years within three consecutive years will permanently own the trophy and any winner can display the trophy only for 11 months after the race and then surrender it back for the following year's race.
So far only Cheshire Police can do this and our first Manchester Community Charity Cup is now permanently displayed in the Cheshire Constabulary HQ.
Yours sincerely,
Kin

Congratulations to Cheshire Police in receiving the Overall Championship trophy
once again from the Mayor of Salford City!
They also won the Manchester Spirit Cup being the team with the fastest time in the three preliminary rounds.
Grosvenor Casino China Town has their first taste of lifting the Manchester Casino Cup.
Please see the attached full result provided by Gable Events at the bottom of this page.
We would like to thank Gable Events and Salford Water Sports Centre for all their contribution
in making ten consecutive successful annual events that MOOA has been invloved in as event partner with Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and sole organiser of the event.
For the last seven years, MOOA has superb working relationship with Greater Manchester Probation Trust. Without their continuous support we could not have achieved the result we proudly possess.
Our partners also include Rotary International, Lions Club International, Lowry Outlet Mall, Salford Events & Salford Leisure. Thank you very much.
However, without the support from the teams, community groups and organsiations who have been staying with us all the time, we could have never done it in the last seven years.
We wish you all the best of luck and hope that we can meet you all again sometime in the future
in a Dragon Boat Race.
Take care and bye for now.
George Frank from Stagecoach has taken some nice pictures of the teams in action and has kindly allow me to share them with you. I shall send you the link separately.
